Mühltalhof restaurant and hotel already has its sixth generation working there. It began as a transformer station, beer cellar, and bottling plant. Later it became an inn – and has remained so to this day – but now adorned with culinary awards. Until recently, owner and head chef Philip Rachinger was cooking and creating in his 1964 kitchen. That has ended. The architects from AllesWirdGut explain how the conversion was conducted and the vision behind it. You might be thinking you recognise it. Correct. The elegant WETRO has long been one of Wever & Ducré‘s classics. That‘s why our designers wanted to give the much-loved luminaire a completely different look. The idea? The hand blown shade, made of the most beautiful Italian glass, is provided with a little more structure to make WETRO shine in a completely different light. We think it‘s excellent and we are delighted to be able to present a vintage version of our classic. And all this in three different sizes. Work and regeneration – where can this cycle be better illustrated than at a mattress manufacturer's office? The employees of internationally leading Emma – The Sleep Company are dedicated to good sleep. Their offices cover three floors and 4,500 m². The architectural firm VRAI was commissioned to create an attractive and varied workplace at Emma’s headquarters in Frankfurt am Main. We turn night into day, in the best possible sense – and that should be immediately clear to visitors. In the "Emmis" office, recreation has the importance suggested by their products. Classic office spaces alternate with retreat zones for focussed individual work; open spaces promote exchange, and so-called Nap Stations are an invitation to recharge empty batteries horizontally. Here, a great night's rest is no sweet dream, but a well-tested promise. Find out more about the project on https://www.weverducre.com/en/projects/pr/lighting-project-emma-the-sleep-company~49281

For ewo, Dynamic Lighting is not a technological end in itself. Smart lighting always has further purpose, be it safety, wellbeing or a special lighting experience. Beyond standard scenarios, we take Dynamic Lighting to the next level. Combining light distributions in the same luminaire allows it to react according to its surroundings. Movement is translated into light. Light accompanies movement. In this sense, it not only reacts to people in its vicinity, but also enhances their sense of wellbeing. Video by Domenico Palma

Caboche made its debut in 2005, based on an intuition that was as powerful as it was simple, a precious lamp, like a beaded bracelet. FAPS is a company that was already focusing on composite materials at the end of the 1980s, an absolute novelty at the time. After having fully thought out the use of these innovations, the firm decided to invest in the production of fishing rods for sportsmen: poles with a length of about 15 metres, of remarkable strenght and lightness. The production of finishing rods, together with other subcontracted items in carbon fibre, represented the fundamental activity of this start-up for years. At the end of 1990's the opportunity arose to also use composite materials in the field of furnishings. The potential of fiberglass and carbon fibre was no loger restricted to a particular kind of technical performance, but could also be applied to different situations, last but not least to the developmentof a innovative image. This was how the collaboration with Foscarini and Marc Sadler began. Sadler himself admits that major "unreasonable leaps" are needed to discover the potentialities of materials and technologies. To achieve success passion and obstinacy are both musts. Foscarini brings to life design and light ideas, the result of a freedom in research, expression and development, without any manufacturing constraints. Indeed, since it was established, Foscarini has been a company without a factory, one that is therefore free to explore materials and manufacturing techniques suited to develop every new idea, relying on the locally-sourced craft-based excellence. Maestrie is the story of a previously hidden dimension that sheds light on the skill and craftsmanship that go into the making of some of Foscarini’s icons.
