A futuristic building that gives the impression of a modern boat, in an industrial environment. A unique contrast. The chosen lighting system is as unique as the building itself. It is so powerful that it was used for most of the interior for various ceiling heights up to over five metres. A further requirement was that no lighting fixtures should be visible from the outside through the transparent façade. The place is Oer-Erkenschwick, in the heart of the Ruhr region - an area pockmarked by disused mines - the so-called “Zechen” or collieries. One of them is “Zeche Ewald Fortsetzung”, which was bought by Yesser Falfoul - a man with a vision: His plan is to revitalise the site, which was shut down in the 1990s, with a multi-faceted design concept and make it accessible to the public. The striking iconic halls of the former colliery are to house restaurants, a concept store and a lighting shop. The “Magazin”, the largest of the brick buildings, featuring an almost ornamental façade, was to take centre stage - so Falfoul focused on interior design in harmony with the striking architecture. Concrete, steel and glass are the characteristic materials of the old colliery building. Huge corners and sturdy pillars - typical hallmarks of the industrial style - exude a vibe of solidity built to last for centuries. Find out more about the project on our website.

You might be thinking you recognise it. Correct. The elegant WETRO has long been one of Wever & DucrĂ©â€˜s classics. That‘s why our designers wanted to give the much-loved luminaire a completely different look. The idea? The hand blown shade, made of the most beautiful Italian glass, is provided with a little more structure to make WETRO shine in a completely different light. We think it‘s excellent and we are delighted to be able to present a vintage version of our classic. And all this in three different sizes. The little black lamp Exuding 1950s charm like no other. We‘re not talking about style icon Audrey Hepburn, but about our eponymous luminaire. It should never miss a cocktail party. Why invite it? Because it can change its look more often than any movie star. It looks just as fantastic in matte black as it does in shimmering gold. How does that work? Choose a mounting and combine it with up to eight different shade forms. Looking for an eye-catcher for the wall? You can customise ODREY‘s shape with three elegant cuff shapes. The experience gathered in fifty years of on-going work with leading italian design companies has made Moretti a favourite counterpart for the most demanding designers. Vetrofond's contribution does not only involve product development. The efforts of recent years to improve the company's entire organisation make it an example of economic rationalism to limit costs and guarantee prompt delivery. The know-how of Vetrofond is organized and structured to make the firm competitive with otherforms of workmanship of a more strictly industrial character. The continuous drive to improve and the focus on optimizing margins at this glasswork are truly impressive. Thanks to these efforts in terms of organisation and technology, today it is possible to create magical products at affordable prices. A lesson that should bring a sense of prime to the entire design production chain. Foscarini brings to life design and light ideas, the result of a freedom in research, expression and development, without any manufacturing constraints. Indeed, since it was established, Foscarini has been a company without a factory, one that is therefore free to explore materials and manufacturing techniques suited to develop every new idea, relying on the locally-sourced craft-based excellence. Maestrie is the story of a previously hidden dimension that sheds light on the skill and craftsmanship that go into the making of some of Foscarini’s icons. A new perspective, an updated viewpoint, an evolution in the way Foscarini operates in relation to its products. The VITE (LIVES) project reflects the desire to make people the central focus, to talk about light not starting with the lamp – those who have designed, developed and produced it – but about those who live with it inside their own intimate space: the home. In different yet complementary shapes, volumes of blown and frosted glass, cut by a series of horizontal lines of varying thickness that are arranged in an intentionally casual manner, filter and modulate the intensity of light with a special chiaroscuro effect. The poetry and the lightness of Rituals treading between the East and West, its rarefaction and materiality draw their inspiration from traditional Japanese lanterns, bringing a suffused and precious light to a variety of settings.
